Description
Weingut Hermann Ludes is a family winery in Thörnich on the Moselle, centred on the Ritsch vineyard, a steep slate site with old, partly ungrafted Riesling vines. The family has lived in Thörnich for centuries, and the estate was a member of the well-known wine auction associations. Uncle Hermann laid the foundation for its quality by swapping, buying and leasing the top parcels with old vines and rocky soil. Julian Ludes took over in 2020 and concentrates fully on the careful cellar work for the individual parcels. The wines follow a classification that runs from the Gutswein Hermann and the village wine Thörnicher to single-vineyard wines.
