Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu is a Munich brewery whose Spaten brand brewed the first Munich Hell, a bottom-fermented lager, in 1894. At that time dark, sweet and malty beer was the norm in Munich and across Germany. In 2019 the company relaunched Spaten Hell in a classic Bavarian look and in the Euro bottle for beer drinkers in Munich, Bavaria and the rest of Germany. The company says its brewing tradition goes back more than 600 years. It operates a visitor centre where guests taste five different beers with a small snack, and it runs a tenant forum for its hospitality partners.
