Description

Salanort is a small family-run canning company based in the fishing port of Getaria in the Basque Country, which has made artisan tinned fish since 1995. Its products are anchovies, bonito, boquerón (white anchovy) and octopus, prepared with traditional techniques. The company states that its vacuum-packed octopus won two stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2015 and at the Superior Taste Awards in 2016. Its bonito belly from the Cantabrian Sea is cooked at low temperature and vacuum packed. Salanort says it favours sustainable fishing and sees itself as an ambassador of Getaria produce.
