Description
Riesling- Weingut Karl Erbes is a family winery in Ürzig on the Middle Moselle, founded in 1967 by Karl Erbes and led today by his son Stefan Erbes, who took it over in 2002. All its wines are grown, tended and bottled on the estate, from 5 hectares of vines, the oldest of them 70 to 80 years old. The vineyards are planted entirely with ungrafted Riesling in steep sites such as Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen, which can only be worked by hand. Grapes are picked selectively by hand and the wines are matured mainly in traditional wooden casks. The estate also keeps a large stock of older wines.
