Description

Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union is an Ethiopian union of coffee cooperatives that was founded in 1999 so that smallholders could export their coffee directly. It is based in Addis Ababa and brings together more than 50 cooperatives and over 400,000 farming families. The union exports Arabica from nine origins in the Oromia region, including Harar, Yirgacheffe, Sidamo, Limu, Jimma, Guji and Kaffa. Every lot is cupped, graded and traced to a single cooperative, and washed and natural processes are offered. The union states that 70 percent of export value is returned to member cooperatives and their families.
