Marine Hydrocolloids , which trades as Meron, is an Indian producer and exporter of agar-agar, agarose, culture media ingredients and other natural polymers made from red seaweed. Its food ingredient range includes agar-agar in powder and strips, carrageenan, gellan gum, sodium alginate, xanthan gum, guar gum, pectin and gum arabic. It also makes stabilizers for ice cream, milk shakes, flavoured milk, drinks, meat and plant-based meat. These ingredients are used in dairy, meat, confectionery, bakery, jams and beverages, and its Meron Biopolymers division works with chitin and chitosan.
