Lanka Canneries (MD) is a Sri Lankan food manufacturer, distributor and exporter that traces its origins to the Marketing Department founded in the 1930s, which supplied processed fruit and jam to troops during the Second World War. Its products are sold under the brand name MD and include jams, sauces, cordials, chutneys, jellies, pickles, canned fruit, pudding mixes, nectars, instant drinks, tomato products and cake ingredients. It also makes sambols and mixes, fruit creams, pastes, preserves, syrups and treacles. The company processes fruit at its facility in Colombo and has exported since 1992, today to over 32 countries including the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia and the Middle East.
