Foodcoop BCN is a cooperative, participatory and non-profit supermarket in Barcelona, which describes itself as the first of its kind in the city. It was started by neighbours who wanted to know where their food comes from and how it was produced. The supermarket sells tasty, sustainable and healthy products at transparent margins, without private profit and without haggling with suppliers. It is moving to a more visible premises in the city centre, funded in part by a crowdfunding campaign.
