Description

Burka Coffee Estates is a coffee farm at the base of Mount Meru near Arusha in Tanzania, and it describes itself as one of the oldest and largest coffee farms in the country. Since 1899 it has grown shade-grown Colombian Mild Arabica at an altitude of 1,400 metres. The estate controls quality from the fields through fermenting, sun-drying and milling, and tests its lots daily with cupping and Q-grading in its own quality laboratory. Almost all of its coffees are certified for export and sold to roasters worldwide. Its permanent staff live in the estate's Selian Village, which has healthcare, schooling and sports facilities.
