Boyds Asparagus is a New Zealand grower, packer and marketer that has packed asparagus since 1982 and was the first company to supply bundled asparagus to New Zealand retailers. It began as a packhouse for 28 growers in the Waikato region and now grows about 160 hectares of its own, roughly half of the country's annual crop. All production sits within 15 minutes of its packhouse, and the asparagus is picked, packed and dispatched on the same day after being precooled, washed and hydro-cooled. The season runs from late August or early September through to Christmas. The company is based in Cambridge.
